Emory University junior Ian Francis claimed the conference title in the triple jump at the 2011 University Athletic Association (UAA) Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Francis won the event with a jump of 14.52 meters, the ninth-longest jump by an NCAA Division III athlete this season, and good for a provisional qualifying mark. He earned all-UAA honors in both the long jump and 4x400-meter relay, finishing second in each with a jump of 6.86 meters in the former, and a time of 3:18.98 in the latter. Francis also finished 10th in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.33 seconds. His performance scored 20 points for the Eagles, helping the team to a fourth-place finish.
