Emory University sophomore Tony Lombardo broke a 16-year old school record in the pole vault, while competing at the Appalachian Indoor Open. Lombardo cleared a height of 4.45 meters in the event, good for a fourth-place finish and the best mark by a Division III competitor at the meet. The height also breaks the previous school record in the pole vault of 4.42 meters, set by Mark Kleinkopf in 1985.
