Emory University juniors Lauren Attiah and
Jasmine McCullough made the best of their last
opportunities to qualify for the NCAA Division III Indoor Track
& Field Championship, as each notched a provisional qualifying
mark at the North Central College Last Chance Meet in Naperville,
IL on Friday.
McCullough set a school record in the 60-meter hurdles, running a
time of 9.06 seconds in the finals of the event to best Kahlilah
Jennings’ record time of 9.09 seconds, set in 1996. Her
time was good for a third-place finish in the event, and ranks her
18th among all NCAA Division III competitors in the
event this season.
Attiah notched a season-best jump of 11.42 meters in the triple
jump, finishing second overall. The distance was good for a
provisional qualifying mark, and ranks her 13th among
Division III athletes this season.
Other top performers for the Emory women at the meet included
Attiah in the long jump (5.21 meters, fourth place), sophomore
Kaele Leonard in the 200-meter dash (26.85
seconds, third place) and the Eagles 4x400-meter relay team of
Alisha Reynolds, Alycia Adams, Leonard and Attiah
(4:01.59, sixth place).
On the men’s side of the meet, freshman Mike
Moserowitz finished 10th in the long jump (6.15
meters), junior Xavier Fowler finished fifth in
the triple jump (13.70 meters), and senior Everett
Bryant claimed 10th in the 60-meter hurdles
(8.83 seconds).
Earlier in the week, Emory senior Brad Pruente
finished third at the Christopher Newport Last Chance Pentathlon,
scoring 2,787 points.
The Eagles will now await the official announcement of the list of
qualifiers for the 2011 NCAA Division III Track and Field
Championships in Columbus, OH next weekend.
