Five Eagles Selected to Compete at NCAA D-III Outdoor Track & Field Championships

Following the squad's final competition of the regular season on Friday, Emory University juniors Ian Francis, Alix Dyer, Jasmine McCullough, Lauren Attiah and senior Alycia Adams were selected to compete in next week's NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

Francis, the lone selectee from the men's squad, will compete in the triple jump, where his career-best jump of 14.52 meters recorded earlier this season will place him 17th in the field of athletes in the event.

Dyer ranks as the 16th-best competitor in the field for the 100-meter dash, while McCullough, who recorded the only automatic qualifying mark of the season by an Eagle, is the eighth-ranked athlete in the 100-meter hurdles with a mark of 14.45 seconds.  Rounding out Emory's field of individual competitors will be Attiah, who is the 17th-ranked competitor in the triple jump with a season-best leap of 11.70 meters.

Dyer, McCullough and Attiah will be joined by Adams in the 4x100-meter relay, where the Eagles' season-best time of 47.50 seconds ranks them seventh in the field, the team's highest-ranked event heading into the NCAA Championships.

The selections come on the heels of another successful meet for the Eagles, North Central College's Gregory Invitational, on Friday.  At the meet, both Attiah (third in the triple jump) and the women's 4x100-meter relay team (first) recorded their NCAA selection times.

Also at the Gregory Invitational, senior Natalie Fenn notched a provisional qualifying mark of 11:09.39 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, good for an 11th-place finish.  Other top times for the Emory women at the meet included Dyer's third-place finish in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.48 seconds (12.47 seconds in the preliminaries), Alicia Reynolds' 16th-place finish in the 400-meter relay with a time of 59.63 seconds, Morgan Monroe's 11th-place finish in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.50 seconds, and the 4x400-meter relay team's eighth-place finish with a time of 3:56.94.

For the Emory men, Isaac Chambers claimed 13th in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 50.18 seconds, Jason Campbell finished 21st in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:55.08, Everett Bryant took fifth in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.10 seconds, and Francis finished fourth in the triple jump with a jump of 14.10 meters.  In addition, Emory's 4x400-meter relay team claimed ninth with a time of 3:19.62.

With the NCAA Championship selection's released, the Gregory Invitational marked the final meet of the careers of seniors Jason Campbell, Everett Bryant and Alicia Reynolds.

The NCAA Championships, hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, Ohio, will take place from May 26th – 28th.
