Emory University senior Ian Francis recorded
the top triple jump in the University Athletic Association (UAA)
this season at the Clemson Invitational last weekend. Francis
finished fourth in the event with a jump of 14.04 meters, the
17th-best among all Division III athletes this season
and the eighth-best mark in Emory history. Earlier in the
week at the Birmingham Invitational, he finished 10th
with a 6.58 meter long jump, second in the UAA in the event only to
his own best jump this season. Francis also finished
34th in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.35 seconds,
the 12th-best in the UAA this season, and ran the second
leg of the Eagles’ ninth-place 4x400-meter relay team, whose
time of 3:26.88 converts to the third-best in the UAA during the
campaign.
