Emory University senior Ian Francis won two events and set a new conference-meet record during the 2012 University Athletic Association (UAA) Indoor Track and Field Championships last weekend. Francis won the triple jump with a UAA record distance of 14.87 meters, breaking the previous record of 14.72 meters set in 1994. The jump ties him for the sixth-longest by a Division III athlete this season, and was the second-longest in school history. He also won the long jump with a distance of 7.10 meters, tying him for the 11th-longest by an NCAA Division III athlete this season and the second-longest in school history. Francis added an all-UAA finish as the second leg of the Eagles’ 4x400-meter relay, which finished third with a time of 3:24.94, and claimed ninth-place in the preliminaries of the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.99. Francis accounted for 21.5 points for the Eagles, who finished second at the meet.
