Emory University senior Ian Francis recorded a pair of first-place finishes during the Emory Invitational last weekend. Francis won the long jump with a leap of 7.03 meters, the fifth-best mark by a Division III athlete this season. He also won the triple jump with a distance of 14.09 meters, sixth-best in the nation thus far. Francis turned in a number of strong performances in the running events as well, finishing sixth in the preliminaries of the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.49 seconds, eighth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 50.78 seconds, and ninth as part of Emory’s 4x100-meter relay with a time of 45.90 seconds. Francis accounted for 21 of Emory’s 93.5 points during the meet, helping the squad to a fourth-place finish.
