Emory Track & Field Wraps-Up the Weekend at the Clemson Invitational

The Eagles completed a successful weekend of competition at the Clemson Indoor Track and Field Invitational on Saturday, highlighted by three of the top marks in the University Athletic Association (UAA) this season.

For the women, senior Lauren Attiah recorded the top triple jump mark in the UAA this season with a leap of 11.37 meters, ranking her 10th among all Division III athletes and finishing third at the meet.  Attiah also finished 20th in the 200-meter dash with a time of 27.15 seconds, the fourth-fastest mark in the conference this year.

Junior Kaele Leonard placed herself on the edge of national qualification with a time of 59.63 seconds in the women's 400-meter dash, the fastest by a UAA competitor this year and 16th in Division III.  The time was good for a 14th-place finish in the event at the meet.  Junior Theresa Ford added a strong performance in the high jump, finishing second by clearing a height of 1.60 meters, the third-best in the UAA and tied for 32nd in Division III this year.  Ford's mark also matched the 10th-best indoor high jump in the program's history.

Senior Ian Francis added the Eagles' other top UAA performance of the season at the meet, finishing fourth in the triple jump with a leap of 14.04 meters, also the 16th-best mark in Division III this season.  Sophomore Scott Greathouse cleared a height of 1.91 meters in the high jump, the third-best mark in the UAA this season and good for a third-place finish.  Junior Pat Lanter added a distance of 6.15 meters in the long jump, good for a 10th-place finish and fifth among UAA competitors for the campaign, while freshman Patrick Crews' time of 2:00.01 in the 800-meter run was the sixth-fastest by a UAA runner this campaign, and good for an eighth-place finish at the meet.  Junior Jay Okeke added a strong performance in the 60-meter dash, recording a time of 7.24 seconds in the preliminaries, the fastest by an Eagle this season and seventh-fastest in the UAA.  He finished 13th in the finals of the event at the meet on Friday night.  Senior Geraint Davies captured the lone event victory of the day for the Emory men or women, winning the 3,000-meter run with a time of 9:06.80.
