The Emory University men's and women's track and field teams combined for 10 event titles and 25 all-conference placements, en route to second-place finishes for each squad at the 2012 University Athletic Association (UAA) Indoor Championships in New York, NY.

The Emory women finished the meet with 136 total points, falling just 13 points short of first-place Washington University (Mo.).  The Eagles were followed in third by the University of Chicago (63 points), while Case Western Reserve University (56 points), New York University (42 points), Carnegie Mellon University (33 points) and Brandeis University (15 points) rounded out the women's field.

On the men's side, the Eagles finished tied with Carnegie Mellon for second place with 90 points each, and behind only Washington University, which won the meet with 117 points.  Following Emory in the standings were NYU (75 points), Chicago (60 points), Case (35 points) and Brandeis (29 points).

Emory senior Ian Francis continued his standout weekend for the Eagles, winning the triple jump with a meet-record mark of 14.87 meters, tied for the sixth-longest triple jump among Division III athletes this season.  His jump broke former Eagle Troy Thompson's previous conference-record distance of 14.72 meters, set during the 1994 season.

For the women, senior Alix Dyer broke the UAA record in the 400-meter dash, winning the finals of the event with a time of 57.28 seconds to best the previous conference record of 57.33 seconds, set by Lauren Henkel of NYU in 2004.  The time also broke her own school record, and ranked 18th among Division III athletes this season.  Dyer also claimed an individual event win in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.84 seconds, the third-fastest mark in school history.

Four other school records were set by Emory athletes during the final day of competition at the UAA Championships.  Junior Theresa Ford won the UAA Championship in the women's high jump, her second event victory of the meet, by clearing a height of 1.68 meters, tied for the seventh-best D-III mark this season and matching her own school record set in 2010.  Senior Jasmine McCullough broke her own program-best mark in the 60-meter hurdles, finishing second with a time of 8.86 seconds, tied for the sixth-fastest in Division III this season.  Senior Tess Gallegos scored for the Eagles in the 3,000-meter run with a fifth-place finish in a time of 10:07.80, breaking her own school record set earlier this season.

For the men, senior Ben Euwer finished second in the shot put with a throw of 14.77 meters, besting his own school record of 14.49 meters set earlier this year.

Adding UAA Championships in individual women's events on the final day were freshman Debora Adjibaba in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.80 seconds (the second-fastest in school history and 15th-fastest in Division III this season) and senior Lauren Attiah in the triple jump with a distance of 11.56 meters (the third-longest in school history and 12th-best among Division III athletes in 2012).  The Eagles' 4x400-meter relay team of Adjibaba, sophomore Gabrielle Clark, junior Kaele Leonard and Dyer also won the conference title with a time of 3:58.06.

Others earning all-UAA honors with a top-three finish for the Emory women included McCullough in the 60-meter dash (second place, 7.90 seconds), Adjibaba (second place, 25.93 seconds) and Attiah (third place, 26.08 seconds) in the 200-meter dash, and Leonard in the 400-meter dash (second place, 57.52 seconds).

The Emory men swept the all-UAA honors in the triple jump, as senior Xavier Fowler finished second behind Francis with a jump of 13.74 meters, while sophomore Mike Moserowitz finished third with a jump of 13.52 meters.  In the 400-meter dash, freshman Gui Silva finished second with a time of 50.27 seconds during Sunday's finals.  Sophomore Edward Mulder added a third-place finish in the mile run with a time of 4:18.62 to claim all-UAA honors in the event.
