Eagles Set Four New Program Records during Weekend Competition

The Emory University track and field team saw its members break program records in four events during the weekend, while in competition at the Duke Invitational and the Auburn Tiger Track Classic on Friday and Saturday.

At Duke, Emory freshman Stephanie Crane broke her own school record, set earlier this season, in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:40.70.  Crane finished 11th in the event, and her time ranked 16th among Division III runners this season.  Crane was also Emory's top finisher in the 800-meter run, winning the developmental section with a time of 2:27.38.

In the 5,000-meter run, senior Tess Gallegos broke Angela Davie's program record in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 17:18.98, finishing fourth overall.  Her mark was the eighth-best this year by a D-III competitor.

Meanwhile, at Auburn, senior Lauren Attiah became the first Emory woman to break the 12-meter mark in the triple jump, finishing seventh in the event with a distance of 12.03 meters.  It was the fourth-best  distance by a D-III athlete during the season.  Attiah added a 12th-place finish in the long jump with a leap of 5.51 meters, the 18th-best in Division III this year.

Attiah was also a part of Emory's record-setting women's 4x400-meter relay at Duke, teaming with freshman Debora Adjibaba, junior Kaele Leonard and senior Alix Dyer to put up a record mark of 3:50.18.  The time was the second-best by a Division III team this year, and was good for an 11th-place finish at the meet.

The Eagles' 4x100-meter relay team of senior Jasmine McCullough, Dyer, Attiah and Adjibaba finished 15th at the Auburn meet with a time of 48.13 seconds, the seventh-best in Division III this season.  Other top performances from the Emory women at the meet came from Adjibaba in the 100-meter dash (12.45 seconds) and 200-meter dash (26.24 seconds), Dyer (57.71 seconds) and Leonard (57.94 seconds) in the 400-meter dash, sophomore Morgan Monroe in the 100-meter hurdles (15.27 seconds), senior Charlotte Diggs in the 400-meter hurdles (1:03.14) and freshman Elaina Kim in the pole vault (3.10 meters).  At Duke, sophomore Emily Caesar claimed second in the 800-meter developmental run with a time of 2:19.05, while sophomore Sarah Klass finished 10th in the 10,000-meter run in a mark of 38:58.72.
