Emory Track & Field Heads to Western Carolina & Johnson C. Smith this Weekend

With just two weeks remaining before the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championships, the Emory University track and field team will continue preparing this weekend, as the Eagles are currently scheduled to compete at the Western Carolina Invitational on Friday and the Johnson C. Smith Invitational on Friday and Saturday.

The Emory women are currently ranked 22nd in the Nation during the outdoor season, and are the top-ranked team in the South/ Southeast Region.  The Emory men are currently ranked fifth in the South/ Southeast Region.

Emory will be sending a group of runners to Cullowhee, North Carolina for the Western Carolina Invitational on Friday.  The field events at the meet are scheduled for a 11:30 AM start, while the running events will take place starting at 2:00 PM.

The Eagles are slated to send a wide variety of athletes to the Johnson C. Smith Invitational, hosted on Friday and Saturday in Charlotte, NC.  Other teams scheduled to compete include Johnson C. Smith, High Point, Winston Salem State, Concord, Shaw, Methodist, UNC-Pembroke, Benedict, Belmont Abbey, Barton, Charlotte, Livingstone, Pfeiffer, Queens and Eastern Mennonite, along with a group of unattached runners.  The meet will begin on Friday at 3:00 PM with the hammer and javelin throws, while the track and rest of the field events will begin on Saturday at 9:00 AM.
