Emory University will make the trip to Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania this weekend for the 2012 University Athletic Association (UAA) Outdoor Track and Field Championships, from Saturday, April 28th through Sunday, April 29th.

Along with Emory and host Carnegie Mellon, Brandeis University, the University of Chicago, Case Western Reserve University, New York University, and Washington University (Mo.) will be competing at the meet.

Fans unable to attend the meet can follow the action with live results at http://www.enrollment.cmu.edu/athletics/track/.

The meet will begin on Saturday, with the field events kicking off at 10:00 AM, and the track events starting at 12:00 PM.  The final event of the first day will be the men's 10,000-meter run, which is slated for a 7:50 PM start.

Action at the UAA Championships will resume on Sunday, with the field events starting at 9:00 AM, and the track events at 11:30 AM.  The meet will conclude with the 4x400-meter relay at 2:50 PM, followed by the award ceremonies.

The Emory women will enter the meet as the 16th-ranked NCAA Division III squad, and the top-ranked team in the South/Southeast Region.  While nationally fourth and regionally second-ranked Washington is the only other nationally-ranked squad competing on the women's side, Case is currently ranked sixth in the Great Lakes Region.

Last season, the Emory women won the UAA Outdoor Championship for the second-straight year and the sixth time in the program's history, scoring 202.5 points to best second-place Washington by 19 points.  Emory has finished no worse than third at the meet in each of the last eight years, and in 21 of the 24 years of competition.  The Eagles will be returning UAA Champions from last year's outdoor meet in senior Alix Dyer (100m Dash, 200m Dash, 400m Relay, 1,600m Relay), junior Kaele Leonard (400m Dash, 1,600m Relay), senior Jasmine McCullough (400m Relay), and senior Lauren Attiah (400m Relay), in addition to all-UAA honorees in junior Theresa Ford, sophomore Emily Caesar, senior Charlotte Diggs, senior Tess Gallegos, senior Sabrina Jeppsson and sophomore Morgan Monroe.

While the men's side of the UAA Championships do not feature any teams that are currently nationally ranked, Emory is the highest ranked regional squad, placing fifth in the latest South/Southeast Region poll.  Carnegie Mellon is currently ranked sixth in the Mideast Region.

The Emory men are coming off a fourth-place finish at last year's UAA Outdoor Championships, scoring 106 points to finish behind first-place Washington (216 points), second-place Chicago (162 points) and third-place Carnegie Mellon (107.5 points).  The Eagles' lone returning UAA Championship from last year's outdoor meet is senior Ian Francis, who won the triple jump, in addition to earning all-UAA honors in the long jump and 1,600-meter relay.  Other returning all-UAA honorees scheduled to compete at the meet include junior Isaac Chambers (1,600m Relay), senior Xavier Fowler (triple jump), and sophomore Scott Greathouse (high jump).

Results and a full recap of Emory's performances at the UAA Championships will be posted to EmoryAthletics.com following the completion of competition each day.
