Emory University senior Ian Francis was named the University Athletic Association (UAA) Outdoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week, after recording a career-best distance in the long jump at last week's North Central College Gregory Invitational.

Francis won the event with a jump of 7.27 meters, the 13^th-best mark by a Division III athlete this season, and just one hundredth of a meter shy of the school record.  Francis will be competing in both the long jump and the triple jump at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships later this week.

This is the sixth time this season Francis has won the award, and the seventh time during his career.
