Emory University sophomore James Bassen won the javelin throw at the Emory Invitational last weekend.  Bassen’s mark of 58.11 meters in the event was not only good for a first-place finish, but was also his personal-best throw in the event, and the fourth-best mark in school history.  In addition, it ranks as the 18^th-best throw by a Division III competitor this year.  Bassen also added a 17^th-place finish in the hammer throw with a toss of 30.82 meters.  He scored 10 points at the meet, helping Emory finish sixth out of 19 squads.
