The Emory University Men's Track and Field team notched three first-place finishes and 20 scoring performances at the Emory Classic on Friday and Saturday, as the squad finished fifth in the team standings at the meet.

The Eagles scored 91 points during the two-day event.  Alabama-Huntsville won the meet with a score 125.5 points, while Buffalo State finished in second (103), Taylor in third (96.5) and Cumberlands in fourth (92).

Emory's men recorded University Athletic Association (UAA)-best marks (entering the weekend) in four different events.  Freshman Adam Rabushka made his 400-meter hurdle debut, placing fourth in the event with a time of 56.10 seconds, the 19th-best in Division III this season.  Junior Brandon Bassell finished fourth in the high jump, clearing the bar at a height of 1.87 meters. In the 110-meter hurdles, sophomore Ankush Mohile finished fourth in the finals after recording a time of 15.62 seconds in the preliminaries.  Senior Stephen Ellwood also recorded a fourth-place finish, notching a time of 3:58.68 in the 1,500-meter run.

The Eagles also registered three first-place finishes in events during the meet.  Sophomore James Bassen claimed a victory in the javelin throw with a distance of 55.29 meters, the eighth-best mark in school history.  Freshman Young Jin Kim earned a win in the pole vault after clearing the bar at 4.10 meters.  In addition, Emory's 4x800-meter relay team of junior William Matheson, freshman Andrew Hemingway, freshman Josh Traynelis and sophomore Patrick Crews won their race with a time of 8:02.00.

Other top finishers for the Emory men included Bassen in the hammer throw (seventh place, 34.68 meters), junior Mike Moserowitz in the long jump (ninth place, 6.27 meters), junior Samuel Jean-Baptiste in the 100-meter dash (11th place, 11.53 meters) and 200-meter dash (12th place, 22.89 seconds), junior Craig Melissas in the 5,000-meter run (14th place, 16:10.79), freshman Jacob Seigel in the discus throw (fifth-place, 41.87 meters), junior Nick Cortellessa in the 400-meter dash (17th place, 52.36 seconds), freshman Taylor Jarl in the shot put (12th place, 12.06 meters), Crews in the 800-meter run (sixth place, 1:57.72) and freshman Maxwell Hoberman in the triple jump (ninth place, 12.61 meters).

Emory also had solid performances from both its 4x100-meter relay (eighth place, 44.51 seconds) and its 4x400-meter relay (10th place, 3:28.42).

The Emory Track and Field team will be back in action at a pair of meets next weekend, splitting the squad between the Tiger Track Classic at Auburn University in Auburn, AL, and the Duke Invitational at Duke University in Durham, NC.  Both meets will take place on Friday, April 5th and Saturday, April 6th.
