Six Eagles Earn Academic All-District T&F/ XC Recognition

Emory University seniors Isaac Chambers, Stephen Ellwood and Theresa Ford, junior Mike Moserowitz and sophomores Debora Adjibaba and Stephanie Crane were each selected to the Capital One Academic All-District Track and Field/ Cross Country, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

This marked the second-straight season that both Ellwood and Ford have been selected to the Academic All-District Team.  It was the first career selection for Chambers, Moserowitz, Adjibaba and Crane.

Chambers was selected as Emory's Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 2013, recording a perfect 4.00 GPA during his collegiate career.  He finished his career with six all-University Athletic Association (UAA) honors, including a third-place finish as a part of Emory's 4x400-meter relay at the 2013 UAA Indoor Championships.  Chambers is the program's record-holder in the indoor 500-meter dash with a time of 1:07.51, and has career-best outdoor times of 22.95 seconds in the 200-meter dash, and 49.67 seconds in the 400-meter dash.

Ellwood, who has a cumulative GPA as a biology major, was the runner-up in the 1,500-meter run at the 2013 UAA Outdoor Championships.  He finished his Emory career with six all-UAA finishes in track and field, running career-best outdoor times of 3:52.39 in the 1,500-meter run, 1:56.43 in the 800-meter run and 15:18.31 in the 5,000-meter run.  In addition, he has compiled career-best indoor times of 8:55.71 in the 3,000-meter run and 4:18.54 in the mile run, in addition to being named the Cross Country team's Most Valuable Performer in 2010, with a career-best 8K time of 25:47.

Ford recently wrapped up one of the best careers in Emory history with a second-place finish in the heptathlon at the 2013 NCAA Division III Championships, setting school records with 4,828 points and a height of 1.72 meters in the high jump.  She also earned an All-America honor in the individual high jump, finishing fourth in Division III.  During the indoor season, she registered all-America honors with a fifth-place finish in the high jump and a sixth-place finish in the long jump.  In addition, she is a three-time UAA Most Valuable Performer honoree, including during both the indoor and outdoor championships in 2013.  Ford has a 3.70 GPA as a business major at Emory.

Moserowitz was the top performer for the men's track and field team in 2013, earning the UAA Most Valuable Performer honor for field events during the indoor season, after winning both the long jump and triple jump at the conference championship meet.  During the outdoor season, he won the triple jump at the UAA Championships, and finished second as part of Emory's 4x100-meter relay.  He has registered career-best marks of 6.79 meters in the long jump and 14.02 meters in the triple jump.  Moserowitz is a Accounting and Psychology major with a 3.51 cumulative GPA.

Adjibaba is a four-time All-American and three-time UAA Most Valuable Performer for running events.  This outdoor season, she was named the UAA MVP for the second-straight year, and competed in the 60-meter dash, 200-meter dash, 4x100-meter relay and 4x400-meter relay at the NCAA Championships. During the 2013 indoor campaign, she earned all-America honors with a fifth-place finish in the 60-meter dash and a seventh-place finish in the 4x400-meter relay.  Adjibaba is a 12-time UAA Champion during her two-year career, and a conference record holder in four events.  She is a business major with a 3.65 ERA.

Crane has recorded a cumulative 3.94 GPA as a business major during her first two years at Emory.  She is the school record holder in the indoor mile (5:01.92) and 800-meter run (2:15.27) and the outdoor 1,500-meter run (4:40.70).  In addition her outdoor 800-meter run time of 2:14.66 ranks as the sixth-fastest in Emory history.  Crane was the 2013 UAA Champion in the indoor 800-meter run, and second in both the indoor mile and outdoor 800-meter run, and has compiled five career all-UAA track and field honors.  During the Cross Country season, she has competed at the NCAA Championships and recorded a career-best 6K time of 23:09.

The Capital One Academic All-District teams are aimed at recognizing the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. The All-District team selections will be placed on the Capital One Academic All-America Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be announced on June 25th.

The Academic All-District teams are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada.  Emory is a part of District 5, which includes NCAA Division III schools from the states of Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Missouri, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oregon, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia.
