Emory University senior Meredith Lorch and the Emory women's 4x100-meter relay team of freshman Harley Barrera, junior Electra Korn, senior Morgan Monroe and junior Debora Adjibaba each qualified for the finals in their respective events during the first day of competition at the 2014 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships, hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, Ohio.

Lorch finished 12th in the preliminaries of the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 10:58.95.  With the top five in each of the two heats of the event, plus the next four best times reaching the finals, Lorch will get a chance to compete for an all-America honor in the finals of the event at 1:00 PM on Saturday.

The women's 4x100-meter relay team finished fourth in the preliminaries with a season-best time of 47.00 seconds.  Barrera, Korn, Monroe and Adjibaba will be back in action in the event on Saturday at 1:40 PM.

Emory recorded school records in two other events, despite not qualifying for the finals in either.  Korn finished 11th in the preliminaries of the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:01.78, besting her own previous record time of 1:01.94, set earlier this season.

The Emory's men's 4x400-meter relay team of junior Zachary Rosenberg, sophomore Adam Rabushka, sophomore Maxwell Hoberman and junior Gui Silva broke the program record in the event with a time of 3:13.53 in the preliminaries, finishing in 11th place.  The time bested the previous school record of 3:14.22, set at the 2008 NCAA Championships.
