Monroe, Korn & Adjibaba All Reach Event Finals at NCAA Championships

Emory University senior Morgan Monroe, junior Electra Korn and junior Debora Adjibaba each qualified for the finals of their events during Friday's action at the 2014 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships, hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, Ohio.

Both Monroe and Adjibaba set school records in their respective events to punch their tickets into the finals.  Monroe finished sixth in the 100-meter hurdle preliminaries with a time of 14.16 seconds, besting the previous school record time of 14.23 seconds, set by former Eagle Kahlilah Jennings at the 1998 NCAA Championships.  She will compete in the finals of the event at 2:25 PM on Saturday.

Adjibaba became the first Emory woman to break the 12-second mark in the 100-meter dash, finishing fourth in the preliminaries with a time of 11.90 seconds.  The time bested her own previous record of 12.03 seconds, set earlier in the year.  Adjibaba will run in the 100-meter dash finals on Saturday at 3:15 PM.

Korn added an eight-place finish in the 400-meter dash with a mark of 56.27 seconds, qualifying for Saturday's finals at 2:55 PM.

Also competing on Friday for the Emory men was junior Gui Silva, who claimed 16th-place in the preliminaries of the 400-meter dash with a time of 48.96 seconds, missing the cut for Saturday's finals.

Also in action in the finals of events on Saturday will be the Emory women's 4x100-meter relay team of freshman Harley Barrera, Korn, Monroe and Adjibaba at 1:40 PM, and senior Meredith Lorch in the 3,000-meter steeplechase finals at 1:00 PM.
