Williamson & Women’s 4x4 Improve National Standing at Hilton Garden Innvitational

The Emory University women's 4x400-meter relay team and junior Julie Williamson each improved their qualifying times for the NCAA Division III Championships, highlighting the squad's performance at the Hilton Garden Innvitational in Winston-Salem, North Carolina on Friday and Saturday.

For the women's 4x400-meter relay, it was freshman Julia Leventhal, freshman Erica Goldman, Williamson and senior Electra Korn finishing eighth overall in the event with a time of 3:56.07.  The time was the sixth-fastest run by a relay in the program's history, and the second-fastest time to date this season in Division III.

On Friday night, Williamson also improved on her time in the 800-meter run, finishing 10th in the event with a mark of 2:16.60.  The time was her fastest converted mark of the year in the event, and ranks as the 11th-best 800-meter run time in Division III this season.

Also on Friday, senior Hannah Parra added times of 8.45 seconds in the 60-meter dash and 10.12 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles, good for 68th- and 52nd-place finishes, respectively.  In the weight throw, freshman Zoe Fowler finished 31st with a toss of 11.32 meters.

Standing out on Friday for the men was junior Spencer Koh, who finished fourth in the pole vault by clearing the bar at a height of 4.25 meters, while senior James Bassen finished 25th in the weight throw with a distance of 13.32 meters.  In the 800-meter run, senior Kevin Delaney finished 40th with a time of 1:58.77, followed by freshman Charles King in 56th place with a time of 2:02.10, and junior Andrew Hemingway in 62nd with a mark of 2:02.97.  Freshman Benjamin Rogin rounded out Emory's performances on the first day with a time of 8.68 seconds in the preliminaries of the 60-meter hurdles.

Other Emory performances on Saturday for the Emory women included, Korn's sixth-place in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.63 seconds, while Goldman finished 62nd in the event with a time of 27.53 seconds, and freshman Kora Dreffs placed 40th in the shot put with a throw of 10.19 meters.  For the men in the 200-meter dash, freshman Daniel Pietsch finished 17th with a time of 23.09 seconds, with Rogin finishing in 56th with a mark of 24.10 seconds.  In the men's mile run, sophomore Michael McBane recorded a time of 4:27.02, and sophomore Brandon Cromer a mark of 4:38.01, finishing 39th and 62nd in the event, respectively.

The Eagles will continue their indoor season next weekend, when the squad is scheduled to head to the East Tennessee State University Multi-Event in Johnson City, Tennessee on Friday, February 6th and Saturday, February 7th.
