Program record-setting performances by freshman Shane Sullivan and freshman Max Brown highlighted the Eagles' Saturday at the Samford Invitational in Birmingham, Alabama and the Tiger Indoor Invitational in Sewanee, Tennessee.

Sullivan, competing at the Samford Invitational, set a new program record in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 8:35.99, finishing 11th overall in the event at the meet. His time bested the previous school record of 8:37.77, set by Edward Mulder in 2013, and ranks as the second-fastest by a University Athletic Association competitor this season.

Also in action in Birmingham, Brown set a new program record in the 1,000-meter run, finishing fourth in the event with a time of 2:29.73, beating the previous school mark of 2:40.72, set by William Matheson in 2011.

Adding a standout performance at the meet was sophomore Grant Murphy, whose time of 4:14.84 in the mile run (en route to finishing second in the event) was the second-fastest in school history, the third fastest in the UAA this year, and the 34th-fastest in Division III.  Other top performances for the Emory men in Birmingham came from junior Spencer Koh in the pole vault (ninth, 4.20 meters), freshman Daniel Pietsch in the 400-meter dash (sixth, 49.18 seconds), and junior Josh Traynelis in the 800-meter run (20th, 1:59.51).

The women at the meet were led by junior Julie Williamson, who recorded a time of 2:15.36 in the 800-meter run, the second-fastest time in the program's history.  Other top times included senior Stephanie Crane in the mile run (16th, 5:09.47), sophomore Alexa Young in the 400-meter dash (32nd, 59.80 seconds), and senior Elise Viox in the 3,000-meter run (22nd, 10:45.53).

Team scores were in effect in the Tiger Indoor Invitational, with the Emory women winning the meet, and the Emory men finishing second.  Junior Alexandra Aiello paced the women in a number of events, including the triple jump, where she finished fifth with a mark of 10.80 meters, the second-best distance in the UAA this season.  She added a long jump of 5.01 meters to finish sixth, a third-place finish in the 55-meter dash with a time of 7.53 seconds in the preliminaries, and a 10th-place finish in the 200-meter dash with a time of 27.87 seconds.  All four times were season bests for Aiello.

Senior Electra Korn added a win in the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 8.56 seconds during the preliminaries of the event, the second-best in the UAA this season, while finishing second in the 55-meter dash with a time of 7.48 seconds in the preliminaries.  Other first-place finishes for the Emory women came from senior Hannah Smith in the 800-meter run (2:25.15), freshman Megan Waples in the 3,000-meter run (10:59.58), the Eagles' 4x400-meter relay of sophomore Kellie Harunk, sophomore Elizabeth Magno, freshman Julia Leventhal and freshman Erica Goldman (4:16.04) and the distance medley relay team of freshman Erica Fischer, senior Hannah Parra, Korn and Smith (13:14.50).
