Emory Track & Field to Make Last NCAA Push at Gregory Invite

Members of the Emory University track and field team will have one last chance to improve their position for selection to the field of competitors for the 2015 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, when the squad heads to North Central College in Naperville, Illinois for the Gregory Invitational.

The meet is slated to begin on Thursday, May 14th at 11:45 am CT, and continue through Friday, May 15th.

Heading into the meet, five Eagles are currently in a position to qualify for the NCAA Championships, with the top-22 individuals and top-16 relays earning a spot at the meet.  Emory athletes that will enter the meet among the top-22 in Division III include freshman Daniel Pietsch in the 400-meter dash (47.50, fifth), senior James Bassen in the javelin throw (61.87m, ninth), junior Adam Rabushka in the 400-meter hurdles (53.40, 17th), sophomore Grant Murphy in the 1,500-meter run (3:50.94, 18th) and senior Hannah Smith in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (10:57.50, 18th).

Other Eagles who are currently ranked in the top-50 in their events nationally include junior Julie Williamson in the 800-meter run (2:12.45, 30th), junior Lukas Mees in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (9:25.82, 42nd), freshman Erica Goldman in the 400-meter dash (57.00, 43rd), and senior Scott Greathouse in the high jump (2.00m, 44th). 

The Eagles' men's 4x400-meter relay team of Pietsch, Rabushka, junior Spencer Koh and senior Zachary Rosenberg have the 24th-best time in the event this season (3:15.55), putting them on the edge of qualifying as well.

The final day to record a qualifying time for the NCAA Championships is Friday, May 15th, with the NCAA set to release its final list of participants on Sunday, May 17th on NCAA.com.
