Eagles Compete on Day 1 of the NCAA Outdoor Championships

Three members of the Emory University Track and Field Team were in action on Thursday during the first day of competition at the 2015 NCAA Division III Track and Field Championships at St. Lawrence University in Canton, New York.

Sophomore Grant Murphy opened the day with an 18th-place finish in the men's 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:00.34.  In the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase, senior Hannah Smith recorded a 17th-place finish with a mark of 11:14.25.  Emory's third competitor, junior Lukas Mees also finished 17th with a time of 9:30.20 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.

None of the three were able to qualify for the finals of their events on Saturday.
