Making his first career appearance in the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships, Emory University freshman Daniel Pietsch qualified for the finals of the 400-meter dash, finishing ninth in the preliminaries of the event on Friday afternoon in Canton, New York.

Pietsch was the final qualifier for the finals of the 400-meter dash, finishing ninth in the preliminaries with a time of 48.46 seconds.  He will vie for the National Championship in the finals of the event on Saturday at 2:25 pm.

Also in action for the Eagles on Saturday will be senior James Bassen, who will be competing in the javelin throw at 11:30 am.
