Seniors Lukas Mees and Spencer Koh of the Emory University Track & Field team swept the University Athletic Association Athlete of the Week awards as announced by the Association on Monday afternoon. This marks the second Athlete of the Week award for Koh this season and first of the outdoor season while this is the first track athlete of the week honor for Mees this year.
Mees placed third among against mostly Division I runners in the 3000m Steeplechase at the VertKlasse Meeting this past weekend. His time of 9:18.37 represents the fastest UAA time and third fastest time nationally so far this outdoor season and is the third fastest time ever ran in the event in school history.
Koh posted the best Emory mark of the outdoor season in the javelin over the weekend. Koh registered a distance of 49.97 to place 19th in the event competing against Division I athletes. Koh also clocked in with a time of 11.37 in the 100m Dash and ran the first leg of Emory's 18th place 4x400 relay which finished with a time of 3:29.59.
The Eagles will compete next at the Berry Field Day Invitational in Rome, GA on Saturday.
