Track & Field Heads to St. Louis for 2016 UAA Outdoor Championships

The Emory University Track & Field programs travel up to St. Louis, MO for the 2016 University Athletic Association on Saturday, April 23rd and Sunday, April 24th at Washington University.

The men’s team, the reigning UAA Champions, will look to defend their title and will be in search of the sixth outdoor champion in program history. The Eagles return four athletes from last year’s squad that were UAA Champions in 2015: senior Adam Rabushka in both the 110m and 400m Hurdles, senior Lukas Mees in the 3000m Steeplechase, sophomore Daniel Pietsch in the 400m Dash and senior Jack Seigel in the Discus.

Emory also return senior Spencer Koh (4x100 Relay, 4x400 Relay), sophomore Max Brown (4x800m Relay), sophomore Charlie Hu (Triple Jump), sophomore Benjamin Rogin (110 Hurdles), sophomore Shane Sullivan (5000m Run), senior Josh Traynelis (4x800m Relay) and sophomore Robert Wilhelm III (4x800m Relay) who were all UAA finalists at the 2015 Championships. Pietsch added Rookie of the Year honors as well for the Eagles.

On the women’s side, Emory is hoping to capture the ninth conference title in program history and the first since 2013 after coming off back-to-back third place showings in 2014 and 2015. Emory’s UAA lineup in 2016 features All-UAA finalists from a year ago in senior Julie Williamson (800m Run, 4x800 Relay) sophomore Erica Goldman (400m Dash), sophomore Julia Leventhal (100m Dash) and sophomore Gabrielle Stravech (4x800m Relay).

The 2016 UAA Championships are set to begin at 9:00 AM on Saturday with the men’s javelin finals with the running events schedule to start at 1:00 PM with the 100m and 110m Hurdles trials. On Sunday, the finals of the women’s javelin leading things off at 9:00 AM and will conclude with the men’s and women’s 4x400m Relays at 2:35 and 2:40 PM.

Fans unable to make the trip to St. Louis can still follow along at home by using the links provided at the top of the page. The video stream will be free to view and will be broadcasted from 1:00-5:00 PM on Saturday (no audio) and from 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM on Sunday (with audio).
