Lukas Mees Named UAA Track Athlete of the Week

Lukas Mees Named UAA Track Athlete of the Week

Emory University senior Lukas Mees was named the University Athletic Association Track Athlete of the Week as announced by the Association on Tuesday morning. It is the second time he has earned the honor this season.

Mees shattered the school record in the 3000m Steeplechase on Friday night at the Dr. Keeler Invitational at North Central College in Naperville, IL. Mees posted a time of 9:03.27 to finish fifth in the race, a time made all the more impressive with the fact that he did it during a driving rain storm. The Marion, IA native out-ran his previous school record time of 9:10.58 which he set at North Central's Gregory Invitational last May.

He will next be in action in the 3000m Steeplechase at the 2016 NCAA Championships in Waverly, IA at Wartburg College at the end of the month. Mees, who entered competition with the 23rd best time in the country, moved up to seventh nationally with his effort last Friday night.
