Senior Jack Seigel, sophomore Daniel Pietsch and freshman Dani Bland of the Emory University track & field program were named the University Athletic Association for their performances at the Emory Invitational on Friday and Saturday this past weekend. The Emory women took first at the meet with 109 points while the men placed fourth with 59.50 points.
Seigel posted the best UAA mark and the 11th best in the nation in the discus during the opening outdoor weekend with a distance of 44.56m. It is the second best mark of his career and the sixth best in school history. He finished fourth in the event.
Bland posted UAA-leading times in both the 100m Dash (12.16) and 200m Dash (25.98) and ran the anchor leg in Emory's fifth place 4x100 relay team which clocked in at 48.73, the third fastest relay time in Division III this weekend. Her 100 time ranks her second in the country so far this season and her 200 time places her 13th nationally. Bland was fourth in the 100 and seventh in the 200.
Pietsch won the 400m Dash at the Emory Invitational with a time of 47.80. It was the best UAA time of the weekend and the third-best nationally. Pietsch added a fifth place showing in the 200m Dash with a time of 22.26, which also topped the UAA and ranks 15th in the country.
