Track & Field Begins Final Stretch with Kentucky Relays

The Emory University track & field teams begin the final stretch before the NCAA Championships with the Kentucky Relays this Saturday, May 7th in Lexington, KY.

The meet is set to kick off with the women's 5K at 9:20 AM and continue through the afternoon until the women's and men's 4x400 Relay at 4:00 PM. Live results will be provided through UKathletics.com for fans unable to make the trip to Lexington.

The Eagles will be sending a small group of runners to try and improve upon their national marks. Competing along with Emory at the meet will be Berea, Birmingham-Southern, Bryan, Centre, Cincinnati, University of Cumberlands (KY), Eastern Kentucky, Kentucky, Kentucky Wesleyan, Lipscomb, Limestone, Lindsey Wilson, Marshall, Miami (OH), Northern Kentucky, Rhodes College, Tennessee Tech, Tennessee Wesleyan, Transylvania, Union (KY), Western Ontario and Xavier.

On the women's side, senior Alexandra Aiello, sophomore Erica Goldman and freshmen Ariana Newhouse and Dani Bland are scheduled to compete in both the 100m and 200m Dash with senior Julie Williamson (800m Run), sophomore Julia Leventhal (100m Dash), freshman Dilys Osei (100m Hurdles) and freshman Hayley Moyer (200m and 400m Dash) to also take part in individual events. The 4x100 (Bland, Osei, Leventhal, Aiello) and 4x400 (Osei, Leventhal, Newhouse, Goldman) relays are entered in the meet as well.

The 4x100 Relay team ranks 12th nationally entering competition with a time of 47.83 while the 4x400 Relay is 19th in the country at 3:53.94. Other racing Eagles ranked in the top-50 before the weekend are Bland in the 100m (19th, 12.16) and 200m (26th, 25.15), Newhouse in the 200m (29th, 25.18), Williamson in the 800m (26th, 2:13.39), Osei in the 100m Hurdles (33rd, 14.86) and Leventhal in the 100m (43rd, 12.35). Newhouse and Goldman, although not running in the 400m Dash this Saturday, own the fifth and sixth fastest national time in the event, respectively.

For the men's squad, the Eagles will be sending just two runners to Lexington in junior Ian McIsaac in the 200m and 400m Dash and sophomore Benjamin Rogin in the 110m and 400m Hurdles. McIsaac is coming off his strongest showing in the 400m at the UAA Championships, running a 49.70 while his teammate Rogin is fresh off a UAA championship in the 110m Hurdles where he ran a season-best time of 15.18.
