Title: Assistant Coach

Jon Newberry is in his first season as an assistant coach for the Emory men's and women's cross country and track and field programs.

Newberry returns to Emory University where he was an accomplished student-athlete.  He was a four-year participant on the cross country and track and field teams. 

As a member of the cross country team, he participated in nationals all four years.  As a senior he placed third in the NCAA South/Southeast Cross Country Regional, while being a two-time UAA honoree.  As a junior he was named to the second team and a first team member as a senior.

As a member of the track and field squad he was runner-up in the 3000 meter steeplechase as a senior at the UAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships.  He won the coaches award as a sophomore and senior, while being named the most improved runner as a junior.  

Newberry's work experience includes an assistant to the sports information director at Georgia State University where he has served as the primary contact for baseball and cross country.  He was also the assistant sports information director at the Florida Institute of Technology.

He graduated with a Bachelor of Business from the prestigious Emory University Goizueta Business School in May of 2003.  He is currently working on his Master of Sport Administration at Georgia State University and will graduate in August 2006.
