Results
The No. 16-ranked Emory University men's cross country team turned
in an excellent performance at the 24th annual Griak Invitational
on Saturday, posting a third-place finish out of 35 teams.
The Eagles finished with 113 points and finished behind No.
2-ranked UW-La Crosse's first-place total of 48 points and No. 8
UW-Platteville (81 pts.). No. 18 UW-Oshkosh (172 pts.) and
UW-Whitewater (175 pts.) rounded out the top five.
Emory had three runners among the top 20 finishers in the
370-runner field. Senior Charlie Meade
(Wellesley, MA) paced the Eagles' pack and crossed the
finish line in third position with an 8K time of 25:42.
Tommy Fyffe (Cincinnati, OH) turned in a
seventh-place effort (25:44) while classmate Paul
Winterhalter (Ardmore, PA) clocked in at 26:23, good for
17th place. Seniors Alex Robin
(27:04, 41st place) and Greg Decker
(27:07, 45th place) also made fine showings at the meet
and closed out the team's scorers.
The top individual time was turned in by Zach Wilhelmy of UW-La
Crosse who finished at 25:27.
Emory returns to action on Oct. 10 when it takes part in the
Jacksonville State Foothills Invitational in Oxford, Alabama.
