Men's Results
The Emory men’s and women’s cross country teams opened
the month of October on a strong note with both squads taking home
first place at the Jacksonville State University Foothills
Invitational in Oxford, Alabama.
The women’s side, ranked 17th nationally, totaled
32 points en route to the top spot in the 12-team field. Host
Jacksonville State finished runner-up with 56 points while West
Alabama held down the No. 3 spot with 106 points. All five of
the Eagles’ scorers crossed the finish line among the top 10
in the 111-runner field, led by Melanie Frank who covered the 5k
course in a time of 18:30, good for fourth place
overall. Freshman Stephane Crane clocked an 18:32, good
for sixth place, while senior Tess Gallegos posted a seventh-place
with an effort of 18:34. Rounding out the team’s
scorers were senior Sara Gelb (18:36, 9th place) and
sophomore Emily Caesar (18:42, 10th place).
The men’s team finished with 85 points, edging second-place
Columbus State’s 93 points. Clayton State and
Jacksonville State tied for third with 105 points. The
Eagles saw their top three finishers rank among the top 20 overall
out of 94 entries. Sophomore Eddie Mulder was the
team’s top performer with his 8k time of 26:54 placing him
12th. Junior Scott Jarvis (27:12) and freshman
Mike Camilleri (27:17) registered 19th- and
20th-place finishes, respectively, while freshmen
Cameron Wheeler (27:26, 22nd place) and senior Geraint
Davies (27:31, 26th place) rounded out the squad’s
scorers.
