Emory Men's Cross Country Finishes Eighth At UAA Championships

The Emory men's cross country team finished in eighth place at the 25th annual University Athletic Association Championships on Saturday.  The meet was held at Montrose Harbor in Chicago.

The Eagles finished with 166 points.  Defending its championship was No. 3-ranked Washington University with 46 points.  New York University finished runner-up with 64 points while the University of Chicago was third with 79 points.

Senior Geraint Davies paced the Emory pack, covering the 8k course in a time of 26:18, good for 12th place out of 75 runners.  By virtue of his finish, Davies earned Second Team All-UAA honors.  Junior Stephen Ellwood was the next Eagle to cross the finish line with his time of 26:59 placing him 35th.  Freshman Mike Camilleri (27:11) was the No. 3 runner for Emory while sophomore Eddie Mulder (27:16) and Hank Ashforth (27:17) rounded out the team's scorers.

Emory returns to action on Saturday, Nov. 12, when it competes at the NCAA South/Southeast Regional Championships in Seguin, Texas.
