Four Eagles Named to Capital One Academic All-District Track & Field/ Cross Country Teams

Emory University seniors Edward Mulder and Morgan Monroe and juniors Debora Adjibaba and Electra Korn were each named to the Capital One Academic All-District Track & Field/Cross Country Teams, based on their academic and athletic achievements during the 2013-14 year.

This was the second-straight year that Adjibaba has been named to the Academic All-District team, and the first career honor each for Mulder, Monroe and Korn.

Mulder was an All-Region selection for Cross Country in both 2012 and 2013, and earned the Coaches' Award for Cross Country earlier this year.  He finished his senior campaign as Emory's top runner in three events, two of which were the NCAA Regionals and NCAA Championships.  In addition, he was the program's Rookie of the Year in 2011.  Mulder, a two-time USTFCCCA All-Academic Team selection, graduated from Emory with a 3.734 grade point average as a Business major.

Monroe recently set the program record in the 100-meter hurdles at the 2014 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships, finishing eighth in the event to earn all-America honors after running a time of 14.16 seconds in the preliminaries.  She added an all-America finish in the 4x100-meter relay, placing sixth with a time of 47.00 seconds.  She was also an all-American in the 60-meter hurdles with a school-record time of 8.79 seconds.  Monroe graduate from Emory with a 3.778 GPA as a French major.

Adjibaba recently broke the school record in the 100-meter dash at the NCAA Championships with a time of 11.90 seconds in the preliminaries, and place seventh overall in the finals of the event to earn an All-America certificate.  She added an All-America performance as a part of the Eagles' sixth-place 4x100-meter relay team.  During the indoor season, she earned all-America status in the 60-meter dash (fifth-place) and is a two-time UAA Most Outstanding Performer.  Adjibaba has a 3.48 GPA as a Business major at Emory.

Korn competed in three events at the NCAA Division III Championships, earning all-America finishes with an eighth-place finish in the 400-meter dash and a sixth-place finish as a part of the 4x100-meter relay.  In addition, she set a school record in the 400-meter hurdles at the meet, placing 11th in the preliminaries with a time of 1:01.78.  Earlier in the year, she was named the University Athletic Association (UAA) Most Outstanding Performer for the outdoor season, and was an indoor all-American in the 400-meter dash with a time of 56.44 seconds.  Korn is a Biology major with a 3.767 grade point average.

By virtue of being named to the Capital One Academic All-District team, the four will be placed on the ballot for the Academic all-America Team.  The first-, second- and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced on Tuesday, June 24th.

Voting for the Academic All-District team is conducted by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).  Emory is part of District 5, which includes Division III schools in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Missouri, Mississippi, North Carolina, Puerto Rico, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia.
