2006 Athletes Of The Week

(April 24) - Freshman Alyson Moler turned in a solid week for the Eagles. In four games she combined to go 6-11, scoring four runs and knocking in three RBI. In game one of a double-header versus LaGrange College (Ga.) she scored the tying run to help Emory to a 2-1 extra innings victory. Against Savannah College of Art & Design she went 2-3 in the second game of a double-header, scoring two runs and adding an RBI.


(April 17) - Freshman Kim Bandy turned in a solid week for the Eagles.  In four games she finished 5-12 with nine RBI, five runs and one home run, her second of the season.  Highlighting the week was her 2-3 performance against Agnes Scott where she had five RBI and a home run.


(April 10) - Senior outfielder Emily Sunshine helped led the 22nd-ranked Emory softball team to a sweep of Georgia Wesleyan College by scores of 10-0 and 17-1.  In the first game, Sunshine was 2-4 with two RBI and two doubles.  In the second contest she was 2-4, scoring three runs, while collecting an RBI.  She also had a homerun, her third of the season. 


(April 3) - Junior short stop Lauren Haag helped lead the 22nd-ranked Emory softball team to a 5-1 record this past week.  Haag went 8-14 during the six games, hitting .364.  She totaled eight RBI, while also scoring four runs.  She was a perfect 2-2 in game one versus LaGrange College (Ga.) with two RBI.  In the second game versus Piedmont, she finished 3-3, scoring two runs and recording two RBI.  For the season she is batting .386 and has 22 RBI and scored 20 runs.


(March 20) - Sophomore pitcher Kathy Gordon went 4-0 this past weekend at the UAA Championships.  She finished the tournament with an ERA of 0.28.  She allowed only three runs during her appearances and struck out 28 batters.  She leads the team in victories for the season, standing 11-2.


(March 13) - Sophomore pitcher Kathy Gordon picked up two victories this weekend against Emory & Henry College (Va.).  Gordon came on in the first game in relief to help spark a come-from-behind victory in extra innings 5-4.  The second contest saw her shut down Emory & Henry, allowing just one run on three hits, while striking out seven.  For the year she stands 7-2 with a 1.99 ERA.


(March 6) - Emory pitcher Lauren Eaves went 2-1 this past week.  Eaves collected her first win of the week in the second game of a double-header with Averett University (Va.).  The Eagles won the contest 5-0.  Eaves turned in a solid effort Saturday as the Eagles overcame a 6-0 deficit to defeat Peace 7-6.  Eaves final game of the weekend, against second-ranked Salisbury, saw her fall 7-4 but not without keeping the Eagles within striking distance of the upset.  For the year Eaves stands 4-1.


(Feb. 27) - Junior Sarah Morse turned in a solid outing in Sunday's sweep of cross-town rival Agnes Scott College.  Morse went 3-5 in the second game, scoring two runs and recording six RBI.  She also had her second home run of the season.  She leads the team in total bases with 21 and home runs with two.  Morse has also collected 11 hits, while scoring seven runs.


(Feb. 20) - Senior Emily Sunshine helped the Emory softball team to a 3-1 record this past week. Through four games she was 6-of-11 including five RBI and three runs scored. Highlighting her week was a 3-for-4 performance against Huntingdon College. For the game she tallied two RBI, while scoring one run. She also made a diving catch with two outs to keep the game in check as the Eagles defeated Huntingdon 6-2.
