Emory's Lauren Gorodetsky Named UAA Softball Co-Player Of The Week

Emory's Lauren Gorodetsky Named UAA Softball Co-Player Of The Week

Emory University freshman Lauren Gorodetsky (Palm City, FL) has been selected by the University Athletic Association as Softball Co-Player of the Week after helping the Eagles to a 4-0 record. She shares the honor with Claire Voris of Washington University.  It marks the second time this season that she has been selected for the award..

Gorodetsky hit .769 (10-for-13) with four RBIs and three runs scored as the Eagles notched doubleheader sweeps against Piedmont College (Apr. 21) and Maryville College (Apr. 23).  She picked up two or more safeties in all four contests and in the process raised her season batting average to .393.  In a 3-0 first-game win over Piedmont College, she went 2 for 2 and scored a run before slapping out two more hits, including the eventual game-winning RBI, in a 5-4 victory in the nightcap.  On Saturday, she went a combined 6 for 8 and totaled three RBI in a doubleheader sweep at Maryville College.  Included in her totals was a 4-for-4 hitting performance with two RBI and four stolen bases in an 8-3 win over Maryville.

Emory owns a won-lost slate of 40-2-1 and concluded the regular-season portion of the schedule with 5-4 and 4-3 wins at LaGrange College on Tuesday, April 26.  The Eagles now wait until May 9 when they will find out where they will travel to and who they will meet in the NCAA Tournament.
