Emory Softball To Host LaGrange

Fresh off  a championship performance at the UAA Tournament, the No. 4-ranked Emory softball team returns home for a Sunday (Mar. 25) doubleheader against LaGrange College.  Action at Cooper Field begins at noon.  In addition to the twinbill against the Panthers, the program will hold Senior Day festivities with the contributions of Jessica Boni, Bridget Holloway, Jaclyn Jacobi and Jessica Thomas being recognized.

The Eagles stand 23-3 following the UAA tourney where they posted a 6-2 record en route to the program's third straight conference crown.  Emory outscored the opposition by a 56-17 margin and hit .340 while holding the opposition to a .258 effort at the plate. The Eagles socked nine homers at the UAAs, three each by sophomore Megan Light and senior Jessica Boni, and pounded out 15 two-base hits.   Light concluded the eight games with a hefty .458 batting average (11-for-24) while totaling 11 RBIs, second high on the team.  Sophomore Sophia Tarte enjoyed a productive tournament, posting a .455 (10-for-22) effort at the plate along with scoring a team-high tying 10 runs.  Rounding out the club's UAA .400 hitters were Boni (.409, 9-for-22) and senior Jessica Thomas (.400, 8-for-20).  In the circle, senior Bridget Holloway compiled a 3-0 slate, tossing a team-high 20 innings and striking out 11 batters.  Sophomore Amanda Kardys figured prominently in the team's fortunes with a 3-2 mark along with an ERA of 1.84 over 19 innings of work.

LaGrange, coached by Jennifer Claybrook,, currently owns a 5-15 record and will play home doubleheaders vs. Centre College on Friday and Agnes Scott on Saturday before meeting up with Emory.
