Emory Softball Closes Out Regular Season At LaGrange College

The No. 10-ranked Emory softball team closes out the regular-season portion of its schedule on Saturday (Apr. 23) when it travels to LaGrange College for a pair of contests.  Action at the LC Softball Complex begins at 2:00 pm.

Emory has won its last six games and now stands 38-4 on the year. In their most recent action, the Eagles swept a doubleheader at Wesleyan College this past Tuesday, winning the opener in five innings, 12-0, before recording a 7-2 triumph in the nightcap.

During its six-game win streak, Emory is hitting .350 (63 of 180) while holding the opposition to a .159 mark (23 of 145).  Senior Melody Carter has registered a .545 (12 of 22) effort at the plate during that stretch, hitting a pair of homers and driving in a team-best 11 runs.  Sophomore Ashley Powers (11 of 22) and junior Amy Wray (9 of 18) are both hitting .500, with Wray knocking in five runs and Powers four.   Junior pitcher Brittany File has notched five of the squad's six wins, not allowing any runs and striking out 52 batters over 29 2/3 innings. File has compiled a school record 29 wins this season, with that showing tops among all D-III hurlers.

LaGrange has lost its last nine outings and will host Emory with an overall record of 13-20.  The Panthers are led in hitting by senior Dani Gravett who sports a batting average of .390 (41 of 105), which includes team-high totals in RBIs (34), home runs (6) and doubles (10).  Gravett has also earned seven wins in the circle with an ERA of 3.54 over 97 innings of work.
