Amy Wray Lands UAA Softball Honor

Amy Wray Lands UAA Softball Honor

Emory University senior Amy Wray (Austin, TX) has been named as the University Athletic Association Softball Co-Hitter of the Week after her performance over a six-game stretch that saw the Eagles post a 4-2 mark. She shares the award with Taylor Arends of Washington University.  It is the second time in her career that she has been selected for the honor, both of which have come this year.

A starter in all six contests, Wray posted a .421 effort at the plate, collecting a team-high eight hits in 19 at-bats. Included in her offensive totals were four doubles, one triple and a team-high .737 slugging percentage.

Wray hit safely in all six games and came through with multi-hit performances in both games of a doubleheader against Washington University on Saturday, Apr. 1.  Earlier in the week, she scored a pair of runs, drew two walks and tripled in helping the Eagles to a 9-1 win over DePauw.

So far this year, Wray has started 31 of the Eagles' 32 games and is hitting .312 (29 of 93) and is second on the squad with 20 RBIs.

Emory, 21-11 on the season, 4-4 in the UAA, returns to action this Friday and Saturday (Apr. 7-8) when it hosts Brandeis in league action.
