Emory Softball Squares Off Against Huntingdon In Doubleheader Action

The Emory University softball team returns to action on Wednesday (Apr. 7) when it travels to Huntingdon College for a doubleheader.  Action at the Lucinda Samford Cannon Softball Field begins at 5:00 pm (EDT).

Emory Head Coach Adrianna Baggetta and her squad post a 3-1 record heading into the twin bill against the Hawks.  The Eagles last played on March 20 when they landed a pair of wins at Piedmont College, 8-1, and 4-3.  Emory is hitting at a brisk .343 pace through four contests with junior Mattie Ryan registering a blistering .800 mark at the plate with a team-leading 12 hits in 15 plate appearances. Junior Krista Colussi checks in with an average of .600 (9-for-15) and ranks second on the club with nine safeties.  In the circle, senior Madison Schaefer has logged all three of the Emory wins, compiling an ERA over 25 innings of work that has seen her fan 23 opposing hitters while issuing just two walks.

Under the direction of fifth-year Head Coach Casey Chrietzberg, Huntingdon stands 7-13 through 20 outings.  The Hawks are coming off a doubleheader sweep of Agnes Scott College this past Saturday, capturing a five-inning, 9-0 win in the opener and an 8-3 verdict in the nightcap. Chrietzberg is a former Emory assistant softball coach, having served in that capacity for three seasons (2014-2016).
