(Feb. 26) -- Emory sophomore Lora Turner
recorded a game-high 22 points and pulled down a team-leading 10
rebounds on Saturday in helping the Eagles to a season-ending 66-58
win over Case Western Reserve University. Turner connected on
eight-of-15 from the field and six-of-seven from the charity stripe
en route to her 20th double-figure scoring game of the season and
third performance of 20 or more points.
Saturday's effort represented Turner's third double-double of the
season and fourth of her career. Lora closed out the year either
leading or sharing for tem scoring honors in 10 contests while
holding the similar distinction in rebounding on 14 occasions.
Turner finished the year with 327 points, good for 15th place on
Emory's seasonal list.
(Feb. 19) -- Emory sophomore Eric Kaplan
totaled 40 points, 15 rebounds and six assists over the weekend in
a pair of hard-fought UAA contests. In a 58-51 setback to
Brandeis, Kaplan finished with a game-high 25 points while leading
the Eagles with six boards. She hit eight-of-15 from the
floor, including three three-point field goals, and converted
six-of-eight from the foul line en route to her fourth game of 20
or more points this season.
In a 69-67 nailbiting loss to No. 4 New York University, Kaplan
totaled 15 points and again led the Eagles in rebounding with nine
boards. In addition, she came up with four assists and a
team-high three steals. Her point total represented her 13th
performance of double-figure scoring this year.
Over the weekend, she hit 46.4 percent from the floor (13-of-28)
including 38.5 percent (5-of-13) from three-point range.
Finally, she hit nine-of-11 from the charity stripe.
(Feb. 12) -- Emory University senior Beth
Bergmann averaged 20.0 points, 3.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists
and 2.5 steals in helping the Eagles to a split of a pair of UAA
road games.
Bergmann posted 15 points, second high on the team, four rebounds
and three steals at No. 16 Washington University on Friday, hitting
5-of-11 from the floor and knocking down all four of her free throw
attempts.
In a 69-63 win over No. 16 Chicago, Bergmann paced the team's
scoring effort with a season-high 25 points while doing out four
assists. She converted seven-of-17 from the floor and hit
nine-of-10 from the foul line in recording her 13th double-figure
scoring game of the season and second of 20 or more
points.
In the two games, Bergmann hit 12-of-28 (42.8%) from the floor and
13-of-14 from the charity stripe (92.8%).
(Feb. 5) -- Emory University sophomore Erica
Kaplan turned in a pair of solid games this past weekend,
averaging 21.0 points, 7.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists in helping the
Eagles to a split of a pair of UAA games. Kaplan recorded her first
career double-double with a team-high 15-point, 10-rebound effort
against No. 7 Rochester Friday evening (Feb. 2). In the game vs.
the Yellowjackets, she converted six-of-12 from the floor,
including three-of-five from three-point range. Her 10 boards
marked her first double-digit effort in that category this season
and second of her career.
In a 77-55 triumph over Carnegie Mellon on Sunday (Feb. 4), Kaplan
paced the team's scoring effort with a career-high 27 points, 19 of
those coming in the second half, while totaling seven rebounds and
three assists. Erica sank eight-of-13 from the field, including a
career-high six-of-nine from three-point range, just one trey shy
of tying the school's single-game mark. Her 27 points represent the
high-water mark by an Emory player this year.
In the two games, she shot 56 percent from the floor (14-of-25)
including a blistering 64.2 percent from three-point range
(9-of-14), and 83.3 percent from the foul line. She has scored in
double figures in four of her last five and in 10 games this
season.
(Jan. 29) -- Emory University sophomore Lora
Turner averaged 15.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and shot 63.2
percent from the floor in a pair of UAA road games this past
weekend. At Carnegie Mellon (Jan. 26), Turner hit
seven-of-nine from the floor and three-of-five from the charity
stripe en route to 17 points. In a contest at No. 8-ranked
Rochester on Sunday (Jan. 28), Turner was the lone Emory
player to score in double figures with 14 points, going five-of-10
from the floor and four-of-eight from the foul line. She also
tied for game-high honors with eight rebounds.
The 5-foot-11 Turner has scored in double figures in her last five
and in 14 games this season. She has led or shared for team
scoring honors in eight games and in rebounding 11 times.
(Jan. 22) -- Sophomore Lora Turner averaged 16.5 points and 8.0 rebounds in a pair of UAA road contests over the weekend. Against No. 14-ranked NYU (Jan. 19), the 5-foot-11 Turner led the team in both points (19) and rebounds (9) while contributing a pair of steals. In a game at No. 16 Brandeis, Turner finished with 14 points, second high on the squad, and tying for team high honors in rebounding with seven boards. All totaled, Turner hit 46.7 percent from the floor (14-of-30) while hitting five-of-nine free throw attempts. Turner has scored in double figures in her last three and in 12 games this year. She has either led or shared for the team lead in scoring in seven games this year and nine times in the rebounding department.
(Jan. 15) -- Emory University freshman Whitney Martin finished with nine points, hitting four-of-six from the floor and one-of-two from the charity stripe, and grabbed four rebounds against No. 7-ranked Chicago on Friday night (Jan. 12) before totaling four points and five rebounds against Washington University on Sunday (Jan. 14). Through games played Jan. 14, Martin has seen action in all 14 Emory contests and is averaging 4.3 points and 4.3 rebounds per contest.
(Jan. 7) -- Emory University sophomore Lora Turner
notched a career-high 21 points while pulling down a team-high
seven rebounds in helping the Eagles to a 75-72 win over Case (Jan.
6) in the team's UAA opener. The 5-foot-11 Turner sank a
career-high tying eight-of-14 from the floor and five-of-eight from
the foul line in just 24 minutes of action. Turner's point
production represents the high-water mark by an Emory player this
year and is her ninth outing of double-digit scoring.
Turner's effort helped Emory snap a 12-game losing streak to
Case. In games played through Jan. 6, Turner ranks 10th among
UAA players in both scoring (12.4 ppg) and rebounding (6.3 rpg).
(Jan. 1) -- Emory University senior Beth Bergmann recorded a pair of double-figure scoring games last week in helping the Eagles to a split of two games. Bergmann totaled 11 points, second high on the team, and chipped in four rebounds and a pair of steals in a home loss to No. 10-ranked Illinois Wesleyan (Dec. 29). The following day, Bergmann posted a team-leading 14 points and dished out a season-high six assists in a 65-57 triumph over Averett University. In the two games, Bergmann averaged 12.5 points, connected on 50 percent from the floor (9-of-18), including four-of-10 from three-point range, and converted all three of her free throw attempts. In addition, she finished with eight assists and three steals.
(Dec. 11) -- Emory University sophomore Jenny Kraus recorded a pair of double-figure scoring games last week in helping the Eagles to a split of two contests. Kraus totaled a team-high 11 points, nine of which came in the second half, in helping her club to a 63-60 win at home over the Sewanee on Dec. 6. Last Saturday, Kraus registered 12 points, second high on the squad, along with three rebounds, three assists and three steals in an 81-76 loss to Tennessee Temple. Through seven games, she stands third on the team in scoring with a 9.4 points per game average. She has posted four games of double-figure scoring.
(Dec. 5) -- Emory sophomore Lora Turner scored 12 points and grabbed a career-best 15 rebounds last Wednesday (Nov. 29) in a game against Oglethorpe. Following that effort, she was the team's second-high scorer with seven points in a road game at Davidson this past Saturday. Through five games, Turner leads the squad in both points (11.2 ppg) and rebounds (6.4 rpg).
(Nov. 27) -- Emory sophomore Lora Turner led the team with a career-high 18 points and grabbed a team-best seven rebounds in helping the Eagles to a75-70 road win at Piedmont College on Nov. 21. The 5-foot-11 Turner played 32 minutes and hit five-of-13 from the field and eight-of-eight from the charity stripe en route to her point production as the Eagles ran their record to 3-0.
(Nov. 20) -- Sophomore guard Lauren Bugg's steady play in the backcourt helped te Eagles to a pair of wins this past weekend. In a 72-62 win over Southwestern (Nov. 17), Bugged logged 31 minutes of action and finished with 10 points while establishing career bests in both assists (9) and steals (6). She followed that performance with five assists and a pair of steals in just 11 minutes in a 69-52 triumph over Meredith College Nov. 19).
