GAME FACTS – The Emory women’s
basketball team looks forward to its return to the Woodruff PE
Center this Friday and Sunday (Jan. 21 & 23) when it plays
hosts to a pair of University Athletic Association opponents.
On Friday, the Eagles battle Case Western Reserve University in a
6:00 p.m. tip before clashing with Carnegie Mellon on Sunday in a
scheduled 2:00 p.m. start.
THE COACHES – Emory Head Coach
Christy Thomaskutty (Tulane, ’96) is in her
eighth season at the helm of the program. She assumed her
current duties prior to the start of the 2003-04
campaign.
In her fourth year as the head coach at Case Western Reserve is
Jennifer Reimer (Lycoming, 1994). During her
stint with the Spartans, she has guided the program to a record of
45-44. In 15 campaigns as a head coach, which includes stops
at Juniata College, Mount Union and Allegheny College, Reimer
claims a career won-lost ledger of 202-146.
Gerri Seidl (Pittsburgh, 1978) is in her 27th year
in calling the shots at Carnegie Mellon. Heading into a
Friday affair at the University of Rochester, Seidl has recorded a
school and career mark of 275-379.

2010-11 RECORDS – Emory meets CWRU with an
overall record of 7-7 (0-3 UAA). Last weekend, the Eagles
came out on the short end of road contests to No. 10-ranked
Washington University, 94-55, and No. 26 Chicago, 92-75.
Case has won its last five outings and comes to town with an
overall mark of 9-5, 3-0 in the UAA. Last weekend, the
Spartans came through with home victories over New York University,
78-67, and Brandeis University, 56-38.
Carnegie Mellon heads into its Friday game at Rochester looking to
shake a three-game losing streak that has dropped its overall
record to 2-12, 0-3 in the UAA. Last weekend, the Tartans
lost to Brandeis, 65-62, and NYU, 81-74.
SERIES RECORDS – In a series that dates from
December of 1988, Case Western holds an all-time record of 20-13
against Emory. The Spartans captured both meetings in 2010,
64-55 in Atlanta and 66-57 in Cleveland. Each team has been
victorious eight times in games played on Emory’s home
floor.
In a series that also has its origins in 1988, Emory enjoys a 26-17
advantage in the series with Carnegie Mellon. Last year, the
Tartans recorded a sweep against the Eagles, earning a 56-47 win at
the Woodruff PE Center before notching a 64-60 overtime triumph in
Pittsburgh. Emory has won 15 of 21 games vs. CMU played on
its home floor.

NOTES – Junior Melissa
Koike put together back-to-back double-figure scoring
efforts together for the first time this season when she totaled a
team-high 10 points vs. Wash U. and 11 points vs. Chicago …
Koike has posted double digits in scoring in four contests this
season … Freshman Savannah Morgan tallied a
team-leading 13 points against the Maroons of Chicago, her fifth
double-figure scoring game of the season, and doled out a
season-high nine assists with that total ranking as the high-water
mark by an Eagle to date this year … Morgan heads into the
weekend No. 1 on the team and No. 5 among UAA players with a 4.3
per-game assists average … At the start of the weekend,
Emory tops the UAA and figures prominently nationally in a number
of statistical categories … The Eagles are averaging a
league-best 76.9 points per game, good for the No. 8 position among
all D-III programs … In addition, Emory is tied with
Rochester for the top spot in the conference and ninth nationally
in assists (17.9 apg) … The Eagles are No. 1 in the UAA and
44th nationally in steals (12.6 spg) and hold down the
47th spot nationally in turnover margin (+5.07) …
Junior Becca Feldman registered a season-high
tying 12 points against Chicago last Sunday … Freshman
Shantel Houston knocked down a season-high three
three-point field goals en route to nine points, her second-highest
total of the year, vs. Chicago … The Eagles are 17-3 during
Thomaskutty’s tenure as head coach when scoring 80 or more
points … Emory has nine games of 10 or more steals
… Emory has outshot eight opponents from the floor
this season and stands 7-1 in those contests … The Eagles
have enjoyed an edge in the rebounding department in six
games and post a 6-0 mark in those outings … Emory has
outscored the opposition in 16 of 28 halves … Freshman
Hannah Lilly continues to lead the team in scoring
with her 11.5 points per game average placing her in a tie for
10th place among UAA performers.
