Junior guard Savannah Morgan sparked the No. 16 Emory women's basketball team to a victory over Rochester, enabling the Eagles to capture their first-ever UAA title in school history.
Morgan scored a game-high 20 points, grabbed four rebounds, totaled two assists and recorded two steals as the Eagles upended the Yellowjackets by a 65-57 count. She ended the game sinking nine-of-14 from the floor, including two-of-three from beyond the arc, in posting her second-highest point total of the season and her 15th double-digit outing of the year. After UR had cut a 16-point Emory lead to two points, Morgan nailed a clutch three pointer with 45 ticks on the clock that pushed the Eagles' lead to five points and which started an 8-0 run to close out the contest.
The victory upped the team's overall record to 22-3, establishing a school mark for most wins in a season.
On the year, Morgan is averaging 11.9 points per game and doling out a squad-high 5.1 assists per outing.
