Freshman Dumebi Egbuna led the Emory women's basketball team in
scoring and was second in rebounding in helping the squad to a pair
of home wins.
The 5-foot-11 Egbuna averaged 14.0 points and 6.5 rebounds as the
Eagles upped their overall record to 10-6, 2-3 in the UAA,
following triumphs over Case Western Reserve and Carnegie Mellon.
She paced the team with a 55.0 percent mark from the floor,
hitting 11-of-20 opportunities.
Egbuna was second on the squad in scoring, tying her season best
with 13 points, while grabbing seven boards in a 65-62 decision
over CWRU with her rebound total second on the team. She
ended that contest sinking six-of-11 from the floor while
converting her lone free throw attempt. She followed that
effort by tying for both the team lead in scoring, with a
season-high 15 points, and with six caroms in a 62-57 verdict over
Carnegie Mellon. She was successful on five-of-nine from the
field and five-of-seven from the charity stripe en route to her
seventh double-figure scoring contest of the season. In addition,
she also came up with three steals against the Tartans.
Through games played Jan. 25, Egbuna is fourth on the team in
scoring (8.1 ppg) and rebounding (4.6 rpg)
