Claire Brock Named to CSC Academic All-America First Team

Emory University women's basketball senior Claire Brock landed on the Academic All-American First Team on Wednesday as named by the College Sports Communicators (CSC), marking the second consecutive year Brock has earned Academic All-American status.

Brock becomes the third Eagle this academic year to make an Academic All-America team, joining Aubrey Blanchard and Kylie Hall who were both named to the Academic All-America Third Team for women's soccer. Having now been named to two Academic All-America teams, Brock is the only women's basketball players to be named to the team in the program's history and is the 201st Eagle to garner AAA acclaim in Emory Athletics history.

This marks the second national award for the senior guard this week as she was previously named to the d3hoops.com All-Region Second Team on Tuesday. Brock currently carries a 4.0 grade-point average as a Neuroscience and Behavioral Biology major.

Brock, who earned a spot on the All-UAA Second Team for the second consecutive year this season, led the team in scoring (16.3 PPG), FG% (43.1%), and FT% (86.2%) with her free throw percentage ranking 21st nationally. Brock was instrumental in leading the Eagles to a record of 17-8 and their first NCAA tournament berth in four seasons, topping the team in scoring in 15 games including a career-best 34 points in a win over Colorado College in November, the third-highest mark in a single-game in team history.

The CSC Academic All-America program recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. To be nominated, student-athletes must be a key starter or reserve, maintain a 3.50 grade-point average, be of sophomore standing or higher, and have attended their current institutions for at least one year.
