Women's Golf Sits Atop Leaderboard Through Two Rounds of DIII Golfweek Invite

The Emory University women's golf team sits atop the leaderboard through two rounds of the DIII Golfweek Invitational in Sandestin, FL. The tournament is being played at the 5,601-yard, par-72 Baytowne Golf Club course.

Through the first 36-holes, the No. 4 ranked Eagles have scored a spectacular 579 (294-285) which sees them leading the next closest member of the field by ten strokes. The field of 24 teams at the DIII Golfweek Invitational consists of 12 teams ranked within the top 25, six of which fall inside the top ten. In the silver medalist position is No. 2 WashU who trails with a score of 589 (300-289) and rounding out the podium is No. 6 Carnegie Mellon who have notched a 591 (297-294) thus far. 

Leading the way for the Eagles is sophomore Sharon Mun who shot an outstanding three-under par 69 on day two to bring her two round total to 140 (71-69) which sees her trailing the tournament leader by a single stroke. Sophomore Ellen Dong who is tied for third heading into the final round of action has carded a 143 (71-72) to this point. Freshman Katie Park continues to impress as she set a new personal record for low round score with a 72 in the second round to bring her all the way up to a 13th place tie. Junior Mariana Chong matched Park's total of 72 in the second round to bring her two-round total to 152 (80-72). Rounding out scoring on day two was freshman Kiley Malmberg who is tied for 23rd having registered a 151 (75-76) through two rounds.

The Eagles are back in action for the final round of play at the DIII Golfweek Invite tomorrow morning as Emory looks to capture its second tournament title of the year.
