Women's Golf Trails by Single Stroke After First Round of Savannah Invitational

The Emory University women's golf team sits in second place, trailing first by a single stroke, after the first round of play at the Savannah Invitational. The tournament is being played at the 5,676-yard, par-72 Savannah Quarters Country Club golf course in Pooler, Georgia.

The No. 1 ranked Eagles closed out the first round having accumulated a score of 303, 11-over par, just one stroke behind first place and No. 15 ranked Centre. Rounding out the podium after the completion of the first 18-holes is No. 19 Denison. The tournament consists of eight teams ranked in the WGCA Top 25 Poll with four ranked in the top ten including No. 5 Washington & Lee, No. 6 Carnegie Mellon and No. 7 Methodist.

Having the best day for the Eagles was sophomore Sharon Mun who is tied for fourth through one round as she shot a two-over par 74. Sophomore Ellen Dong followed Mun as she was just one stroke back as she logged a three-over par 75. Junior Irene Wang was rock-solid for the Eagles as she always is carding a 76 to finish the first round reid for 11th. Freshmen Cindy Wang and Katie Park rounded out scoring for Emory as each tied for 27th with a score of 78.

The Eagles are back in action for the final 18-holes of the tournament tomorrow morning as they look to win for the third time this academic year.
