Women's Golf Dominates the Competition at Savannah Invitational

The Emory University women's golf team continues to be a dominant force winning their third tournament of the calendar year on Tuesday at the Savannah Invitational. The tournament was played at the 5,676-yard, par-72 Savannah Quarters Country Club golf course in Pooler, Georgia.

The No. 1 ranked Eagles built up a 20-stroke lead at the conclusion of the tournament notching a second round score of 297 to bring their 36-hole total to an even 600 (303-297). Emory finished with the best score on every type of hole (par-3, par-4 and par-5) while also finishing the tournament with the most birdies (23) in what was a magnificent showing for the Eagles. The team's finishing score of 600 was the fifth best two-round score in program history. No. 6 Carnegie Mellon moved up into the Silver medalist by tournament's end having accumulated a two day score of 620 (310-310) while No. 5 Washington & Lee rounded out the podium with a score of 623 (310-313).

Sophomore Sharon Mun continues to prove she is one of the premier golfers in the nation as she finished in second place having registered a score of 148 (74-74). In all four tournaments Mun has played in this academic year she has finished inside the top two with two tournament wins under her belt already. Sophomore Ellen Dong finished just behind Mun in a tie for third place having tallied a two-round score of 149 (75-74) as she led the field with a score of two-under par on par-5 holes. Freshman Katie Park turned in the best performance of her young career as she finished tied for fifth place with an overall score of 150 (78-72) and her second round score of 72 was the second best individual round score for anyone at the tournament. Junior Irene Wang continues to be a model of consistency for Emory finishing with a score of 153 (76-77) which placed her in a tie for 11th place. Rounding out scoring for the Eagles was freshman Cindy Wang who finished knotted up in 36th place with a two-day total of 160 (78-82).

The Eagles will be back in action this weekend for the UAA Championship in Lady Lake, Florida as Emory looks to win back-to-back conference titles and just their second in program history.
