Women's Golf Downs NYU to Head into UAA Championship

The Emory University women's golf team pulled out a narrow 3-2 victory over the NYU Violets in the first round of the UAA Championships on Saturday afternoon. The first round was played on the 5,741-yard, par-72 Harbor Hills Country Club course in Lady Lake, Florida.

Competing under the match-play format, the No. 1 ranked and first seeded Eagles took down the No. 20 ranked Violets in a match that came down to the wire with the match being won on the final hole of play. With the match all knotted up at two apiece, junior Irene Wang pulled out the clutch victory over NYU's Camilla Chung winning the match 1UP after 18 holes. Below are the results from the match-play competition:

The Eagles will face off against the third seeded and No. 6 ranked Carnegie Mellon Tartans, who pulled off a 4-1 upset over No. 3 ranked WashU in the first round on Saturday, tomorrow morning in the UAA Championship match.
