Women's Golf Wins Second Consecutive UAA Title

The No. 1 ranked Emory University women's golf team won its second consecutive UAA Championship on Sunday afternoon defeating the Carnegie Mellon Tartans 3-2 in the championship match.  The championship match was played on the 5,741-yard, par-72 Harbor Hills Country Club course in Lady Lake, Florida.

The Eagles won three out of their five matchups in the match play format competition against the Tartans in what was a nailbiter of a matchup. This marks the second consecutive and second ever conference title for the Eagles in just their fifth year as a program. Pulling out wins for the Eagles were freshman Katie Park, sophomore Ellen Dong and sophomore Sharon Mun. Below are the results from the match play competition:

  1. Katie Park (E) defeated Denise Pan (C)                     2UP

  2. Sriya Mupparaju (C) defeated Cindy Wang (E)           1UP

  3. Alexis Sudjinato (C) defeated Irene Wang (E)           3&2

  4. Sharon Mun (E) defeated Sense Sangkagoon (C)       5&4

  5. Ellen Dong (E) defeated Kaylin Yeoh (C)                    3&2

At the conclusion of the 36-hole, two-day conference championship Dong and Mun were named to the six-golfer UAA All-Tournament team with Mun claiming the Tournament MVP honors. Mun is the second consecutive UAA Tournament MVP winner for the Eagles after Dong was named to the title during last year's championships.

The Eagles are back in action next weekend for the 54-hole Patriot Invitational in Carmel, California with the first round set to get underway on Sunday morning.
