Women’s Golf Travels to Illinois for IWU Spring Fling

The Emory University women's golf traveled to Illinois to participate in the Illinois Wesleyan Spring Fling and currently sit in second place after the first day. The tournament is being played at the 5,805-yard, par-72 Ironwood golf course in Normal, Illinois.

With a score of 295 in the first round, the No. 1 Eagles currently sit 8-over par through nine holes in round two just two strokes behind the No. 15 Illinois Wesleyan Titans. Rounding out the podium after the first 27 holes is No. 13 St. Catherine University.

Having one of the most impressive outings of her rookie season is freshman Katie Park who is in first place after shooting a 71 in round one and one-over par in the first nine holes of round two. Sophomore Ellen Dong followed closely behind shooting three-over par placing her in a tie for seventh.

Sophomore Sharon Mun shot five-over on day one and sits in a tie for 11th. Junior Irene Wang and freshman Cindy Wang rounded out the day for the Eagles shooting seven-over and 17-over par respectively.

Sophomore Heejo Hyun leads the way in individuals shooting five-over par placing her in a tie with Mun for 11th.

The Eagles are scheduled to finish the second round on Sunday, April 16, weather permitting.
